Congratulations to North Kent College’s Digital Marketing Apprentice, Becky Szekely, 20 from Dartford, on winning “Apprentice of the Year” during National Apprenticeship week at The Runway Training Apprenticeship Awards 2019. Becky was also a finalist for the Special Recognition Award.

Becky has been studying her Level 3 Digital Marketing Apprenticeship for the past 14 months with the Marketing department at North Kent College. During which time she has undertaken a steep learning curve and learnt skills such as blogging, vlogging, social media content, social advertising, Google adwords, content strategy, return on investment analysis and even trains internal stakeholders on social media best practice.

Becky commented “This is such a personal achievement, the skills I am learning on the job are second to none. It is so great to be recognised with this award. It’s a fast paced industry and studying a Level 3 qualification alongside the role really ensures that I keep up with the latest trends. I am thoroughly enjoying the apprenticeship and would recommend this route to anyone thinking of taking an apprenticeship. I even have some extra funds now which really helps and the team I work with at the College really keep me on my toes!”

North Kent College thanked Runway Training based in Tonbridge and Giant Campus from Folkestone for supporting Becky with her apprenticeship and for arranging such a wonderful celebratory event during National Apprenticeship Week. Special guest MP Tom Tugenhadht presented the awards at The Old Fire station in Tonbridge and gave a wonderful speech about celebrating apprenticeships and the talent that is amongst the younger generation.

Becky’s line manager, Claire Shearwood Burton, Head of Marketing added “We are very proud of Becky for winning “Apprentice of the Year”, as well as being a finalist for the Special Recognition Award. Well done to Becky on her incredible achievement!"
