The students were tasked with designing a Spring-themed poster to display in their charity shops to encourage people to donate, purchase and volunteer as part of their Spring cleaning. The challenge was set as a competition amongst Level 3 Art and Design Extended Diploma students based at the College’s Wood Street Campus.
The competition was won by 16-year-old Barnet and Southgate College student Alessia Fiore, from Enfield. Alessia was presented with a prize and certificate today, 22nd May. Alessia said:
“The brief was to create a Spring themed poster, so it was important for me to choose bright colours such as yellow and pink, I designed flowers as their bloom marks the start of Spring. It’s great to win the competition, which was part of our 30 hours work experience on the course; I’ve got one year left at Barnet and Southgate College and I’ve really enjoyed it so far, as the course really pushes me to come up with my own ideas and when I finish next year I’d like to further my career in graphic design with an apprenticeship.”
Julie Koopman, Volunteer Coordinator for All Aboard Shops Ltd said: “Alessia has done a great job of creating the perfect Spring themed poster, we were looking for something eye-catching, simple and with a clear message and her design ticks all three boxes. We love it.”
